Jefferson Parish was chosen as one of seven areas in Louisiana to be a Certified Retirement Community. Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu, presented the award to Glenn Hayes, Predident and CEO of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and Kit Vinson, Executive Director of the Chamber’s Senior Diplomat Program. Other winners include Covington, Crowley, Lake Charles, Thibodaux, St. Landry, and Natchitoches.

Each will receive $10,000 annually to focus on the Louisiana Retirement Development Commission’s mission which is to develop and market Louisiana as a preferred choice for
retirement to pre-retiring and retired individuals in an effort to retain
and attract retirees while enhancing communities and improving the economic
climate statewide.
This is possible because it is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Retirement Development Commission in the Office of Lieutenant Governor Mitchell J. Landrieu.

“We are so proud to be a part of this program”, says Glenn Hayes. Louisiana is a great place to live, so we welcome retirees with open arms.
