When my company, Benefit Planning Group, joined the Jefferson Chamber, I was hoping to network and meet some new clients. I soon learned that by our involvement in the programs available I not only grew our business, but have made a difference to the community. Networking: the Key to Success
When I started my home based business, I knew I needed one marketing group that would allow me word of mouth advertising in a cost effective way. Choosing the Jefferson Chamber has proven to be the best fit. I have received numerous referrals in my 7 to 8 years as a Chamber member by being highly visible at networking events and serving on various committees. I have served on the Board of Directors and am currently an active member of the Diplomat committee and the MC for the Business and Breakfast and Commerce Exchange, two of the Chamber’s popular networking functions. Virtually 100 % of my sales come directly from referrals; I do not make cold calls.
The Jefferson Chamber has been the major marketing tool that allowed my businesses to grow and thrive; all I had to do was work the program. In my opinion, anyone who is thinking of starting a new business or is currently in sales should join the Chamber. In doing so, by using the organization as a networking tool and following the procedures of networking, you will increase your amount of business in the metro area.
On a side note, I recently worked with the Diplomat Committee on a ribbon cutting at Fidelity Homestead on Metairie Rd. and won a door prize of over $500 in merchant coupons. So, it does pay to belong to and be active in the Chamber of Commerce!
