Cox Charities Awards $1,000 Grant to Chamber Foundation

The Jefferson Chamber Foundation was recently awarded a $1,000 grant by Cox Charities of New Orleans for its Youth Leadership Program.The Jefferson Chamber Youth Leadership (JCYL) program is a unique program comprised of seniors from local high schools with the intent of building key leadership skills for young adults. The seniors attend several workshops throughout the year, covering a series of skill-strengthening and team-building activities.JCYL is a program of the Jefferson Chamber Foundation, the nonprofit arm of the Chamber, whose purpose is to bridge the gap between the business and education communities and ensure a capable workforce. One of the foundation’s most successful projects is the creation of the Jefferson Chamber Foundation Academy, (READ: Jefferson Chamber Foundation Academy featured in television documentary) a charter school for at-risk students. To date, the Academy has graduated more than 60 students with high school diplomas.
