Jefferson Parish Partners with Jefferson Chamber and its Young Professionals Committee on Rebranding Project

JEFFERSON,LA – The Jefferson Parish Council passed a resolution at this week’s CouncilMeeting to organize a joint effort with the Parish President’s Office, theJefferson Chamber of Commerce and its Young Professionals Committee, to developa rebranding strategy for Jefferson Parish.

Accordingto Council Chairman Ricky Templet, Council-at-Large, Division A, “In an effortto make Jefferson Parish the premier place to live, work and play, a rebrandingstrategy is needed for both the current and future residents of the Parish. Wewant to create something that celebrates all that Jefferson Parish has to offer.”

Therebranding project will include a new and refreshed emblem for the Parish. Thecurrent Parish emblem features a brown pelican, the official state bird ofLouisiana. The design was adopted in 1996 and has not been updated since thattime. The rebrand fits in well with Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng’sstrategy to “bring Jefferson Parish to the next level.”

“It’sa new day in Jefferson Parish and we want a more modern emblem that ourcitizens can really relate to and the future generation of our Parish will beproud to display,” says Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng. “We look forward topartnering with the Jefferson Chamber’s young professionals on this strategyand unveiling a revamped emblem that best reflects our community.”

Thisannouncement comes shortly after Parish officials announced they would be goingpaperless for contracts, all in an effort to bring the Parish to the “21stcentury” and as a starting path to a more efficient government.

“Our Young Professionals areboth passionate and committed to our parish and will certainly bring vitalityto the process of developing a rebranding strategy. Jefferson has manyamenities to offer and it is time to step up our marque,” said Todd Murphy,president of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce.
